Cupboards & Roses Antiques Sheffield, MA

Cupboards & Roses Swedish Antiques offers one of the most extensive collections in America of 18th and 19th century painted furniture from Sweden and Europe. Featured Swedish antiques include Gustavian commodes and settees, painted tea tables and Rococo chairs, Bornholmer and Mora clocks, and Swedish secretaries. A specialty of the store is Swedish folk paintings, called “bonader.”

Edith Gilson has built her reputation on her discerning eye, her inclination for the unusual, and her expertise in the field of antique painted furniture. She has traveled extensively in Sweden and Europe, developing relationships with people whose families have spent years studying and collecting folk art and painted furniture. Through our store, she brings the collective knowledge of these specialists to her clientele.

For special pieces, we also offer full services in sourcing Swedish antiques. As an alternative, we have recently added custom made reproductions of hard-to-find Swedish furniture to our offerings. Beginning with our client’s specifications, we work with our master cabinetmaker to create a special piece in the Swedish style.

Pieces from Cupboards & Roses Swedish Antiques have been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Vogue Magazine, House Beautiful, Country Living, Florida Design, The New York Times, and Better Homes and Gardens, as well as the local media.
