Sandy Smith, known for producing art and antique shows including Modernism, Works on Paper, and the Outsider Art Fair, is also the founder of a gem on Railroad Street in Great Barrington, MA. The gallery, Sanford Smith Fine Art, specializes in 20th century and contemporary art. Modern masters like George Bellows, Jacob Lawrence and Will Barnet appear alongside pastels by Wolf Kahn. Other artists on display at the gallery include Red Grooms, Allan Gussow, Judy Pfaff, Cheryl Warrick, Jim Schantz, Peter Brooke and Karen LeSage.
Jill Bokor, Smith's wife and current publisher of Art & Antiques magazine, shows contemporary jewelry. Works in gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones include pieces by international designers from New York to Italy including: Gurhan, Jordan Schlanger, Sarah Graham and Elizabeth Showers. Bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings are priced from $100 to $5,000.
Bokor and Smith bought a house in the Berkshires in 2004 and immediately began looking for a gallery space. The space at 13 Railroad Street is a light, airy gallery. Jill and Sandy are delighted to be a part of the downtown Great Barrington art scene.
